Dusk seemed to arrive earlier then usual as the sun began to set and send streaks of brilliant red, gold, purples and pinks across the sky that gave the forest a warm glow. The heat of the day had since settled down and now a cool breeze ruffled the branches of the trees, stirring the leaves till they seemed to sing as the birds did. Mingled among the sounds were the gentle hums of the cricket and the shrill sounds of the cicada's sounded within the trees as well as the soft, rhythmic, sound of the stream that flowed steadily by.
All these sounds lent to the peacefulness of the forest but were broken when a pitiful whimpering came from a group of shrubs near the stream, the cry belonged to a small but plump light brown pup with large and beseeching eyes that stared pitifully out at the stream. The cry was lonesome and begged for someone to come to her, a pup of just four months. She cried for her mother, a soul that was never coming back, a soul that had abandoned her here from reasons only known to the fae. The cry sounded again as the pup got to it's paws and peeked wearily from her hiding hole, blue eyes darting here and there in a fearful manner. The scent of her mother was faint and was fading fast , mixing into the scent of the stream that the pup was near.
Fear washed off the pup in waves, sending out signals to any predator that may wish to harm the untrained beast who sat like a lump, not knowing of the dangers around her.

ALPHA APPARI OF ADAMO It seemed like Appari had been by himself for a long time. The period between when he left his first home and when he came into Adamo had long since blurred together too. That meant he was only left with fragmented echoes of memories of what once was and his own devices. The pallid white male was left to entertain himself, guard his own land, and do everything a solitary wolf would do, only he had the alpha title. Appari was grateful to be the leader of a pack no doubt, it was an honor not all were bestowed with; the only problem was that he had no real pack to lead. Slowly numbers were trickling into Zamora, and slowly rogue wolves were turning into pack wolves. But the only face that Appari saw was his own when he looked into his own reflection. Other than that, he was alone. That fact was slightly disheartening, but also something he could deal with. Appari was a ghostly male in both appearance and personality. He was not the life of the party at gatherings, or the social butterfly others claimed to be. In that respect, it was alright to have his solitude. But, when it comes down to it, wolves are social creatures at heart. They belong in packs similar to how lions belong in prides, and horses in herds. It is the natural order of things in the wild. A heavy sigh rattled the alabaster canine’s frame as he lie in the pack land, bored. Occasionally Appari’s red eyes would flick to the left or to the right, but mainly they were focused forward on his paws. Time ticked away with each and every single beat of his heart. On this particular day, the man did not realize that there would be a change to his usual routine. But that change came to him in the sound of a small voice, and it magnetized his attention instantly. Appari picked up on the pup’s cries, and sprung to his paws in one fluid motion. A few questions rolled around in his head like glass marbles, but hopefully the answers would come in due time. “Someone’s here with me? How come I did not notice someone here with me?” he asked aloud, though it was only a rhetorical question. He was not actually expecting an answer to that from anyone. The wolf’s voice crackled a bit from not using it, and he had to clear his throat thereafter. But not a moment too soon he was after the source of the sound. Appari’s nose was to the ground from the minute he left his resting spot. His nostrils twitched back and forth guiding him in the way that he should go. There was no one in his immediate area, so that is how he missed his visitors in the first place. If anyone had passed within a few feet of him Appari would have known. But the smells and sounds he was getting were farther out, just out of reach of where he was. So he had to move a bit until he came to the borders of the Adamo lands. The wolf’s ears were flicked forward on his head, and his red eyes were wide with intrigue. This was something new, this was something interesting, and this was something worth investigating. If nothing else, it temporarily pushed back his boredom, and gave his mind something else to think about other than the norm. The norm had become too normal and overly mundane. Boring. But the sounds, smells, and sights of someone else were enough to lift Appari’s spirit quite a bit. When Appari laid eyes upon the small girl, he froze up though. There were some red flags going off that he did not like. An abandoned pup meant a few possible things going on: 1) A small pup was in a foreign land by herself with no one to care for her 2) The pup was not actually abandoned, but was accompanied by someone else 3) That someone else was still nearby and would return shortly. Appari thought about his options in response to these possibilities and had to choose one. He moved closer to the pup and sat down, one word leaving his lips. “Hi.”

The pup continued to cry up until she heard the male's voice speaking. Here she clamped her mouth shut and looked up in alarm that suddenly turned to what appeared to be glee and getting to her stumpy legs stumbled over to the white brute and began to nuzzle up against his legs, her tail wagging furiously. Her cries had faded into happy whimpers as if she could hardly contain herself. This wolf, regardless of it being her mother or father or whither it was a strange wolf, Hera didn't care. Here he was! He had answered her cries and she was happy.
Tilting her head up she stared pitifully into the brute's eyes as if asking him to remain with her, to not leave. It was as if she understood without understanding that she had been left behind. Of course this male's scent was foreign to her but it smelled warm and safe.
Comforting and secure.
Suddenly she flopped onto her back and stuck her hide paws into the air and wiggled on her back as if she were asking him to keep her, to not go away and if he did to take her with him. Her large blue eyes were wide with curiosity as she stared up at him then letting out a little yip she answered his words with a squeaky, excited voice.,
"Hi!"

ALPHA APPARI OF ADAMO Being alone creates strange and rather oxymoronic feelings sometimes. The sensation of aloneness formulates the desire to want to be alone more, but also the desire to be in the presence of others as well. Technically speaking the phrase “having alone time with yourself” fits into that category. How can one be alone while simultaneously being in one’s own company? Does being in one’s own company count as being in the presence of someone else, or only oneself? Regardless of the answers to those questions, Appari was having mixed emotions running throughout him and his thoughts. About fifty percent of the wolf was happy to be near someone, anyone, even a small, crying pup. But the other fifty percent of him was still quite unsure. His indecision was marked by slightly furrowed brows and Appari chewing on his bottom lip a little bit. He did not know what to expect really; it had been a long time since he had been near a pup, and certainly he was not one himself anymore. The wolf was in the prime of his life, and nowhere near the child-like pup phase that the young girl was still in. But it was too late to turn back then; he had already planted his butt on the ground and spoke somewhat. It would be weird just to wander away without anything saying or doing anything else. Apparently the outcome of this interaction was not going to be decided by Appari himself, but rather his small companion instead. She came towards him and rubbed up against him like she had known him her entire life, which probably was not that long. This was an unusual show of affection that the wolf was experiencing, and he made some instant inferences from what was going on. Judging by the girl’s behavior, she did not have very many wolves in her corner or anyone at all. That was a complete and utter shame too. She seemed to be as alone, if not more alone, than Appari was in the beginning of this whole thing. The pup seemed to have just been left to fend for herself, whether it was only temporarily or permanently, but no one else was there. That was a lot to bear for anyone, especially for someone so young. There was an instant change in the girl’s mood the moment that he showed up though. That was a good thing at least. It was somewhere to start he supposed. Although Appari had no wolf to wolf contact in quite some time, he did not push Hera away and he stayed with her too. He knew what she was going through, and actually felt a small sense of camaraderie with her. His red eyes met Hera’s blue ones, and that was all that it took for the alabaster male to make up his mind. If no one else was going to be there for her, then Appari would be instead. Some meetings are not by chance. Sometimes the person that walks into your life is exactly who is supposed to be there, and fills a void perfectly. Sometimes chance is not up to chance, and there is a purpose for things. That is not to say that there is not pain before getting there, or that is not to say that there is no rain before sunshine. But the meeting between Hera and Appari was meant to happen, of that much he was certain. Hera was sent to help him in her own way, and he to help her in his as well. This entire interaction and situation were mutually beneficial. When the small pup flopped down, the bigger male bent his head over her. Appari was upside down in her line of vision as he was blinking down at her. His nose made an attempted move to tickle her small tummy before he backed up a bit and spoke again. “I do not know where you came from, how you got here, or whatever else. But none of that matters apparently, things change,” the wolf said. “You do not have to be alone anymore, I, Appari, am here for you. And we can make it together.”

A giggle sounded from her as she felt his nose on her puppy belly. Her round eyes blinked up at him and her gaze filled with a trust and a love that could never be dampened. Perhaps she was naive but then again, aren't all pups? Doesn't every small, young, thing wish to be loved and to love without a mar on their innocent thoughts. Yes, Hera was naive, innocently so but even if she was old enough to decipher what was what and how exactly she got there she would still love this strange wolf that had appeared in front of her. Who wouldn't love the one that came to your rescue and said you were never to be alone again? With her tail wagging, Hera got to her paws and tilted her head up to look at him. Those words that he spoke sent a thrill through her, she wasn't to be alone! She would never be alone again, she had Appari.
Edging closer she reared up onto her hind legs and placed her forepaws on his shoulder and drew her small pink tongue across his cheek. "My name is Hera." she pipped up. "Or at least I think it is.." she giggled, her tail wagging. "Are you my daddy?" she asked, her puppy blue eyes growing wide. Oh if he was her daddy she would surely follow him to the ends of the world and beyond it, never caring where her paws were set down. As long as she had him she would be content.
