Crystal Mines, the name itself it's explainable, a cavern full of crystals. Not just any old crystals though. ones that help us recharge our powers, so they don't fade away. they vary in size and shape, but one thing stays the same, the power they do radiate is almost intoxicating. it can be unbearable at times like it is hard to breathe because the air is too thick. Not something just any wolf can bare, that is why not many wolves return back to their packs. Luckily, they didn't have to go there daily, only a few months, depending on the pack size. But when they do need to get more crystals, it is a very dangerous mission and one that can take a wolf's life and sanity. You see, since there are so many crystals in the cavern, wolves can fall victim to its powers of compulsion. Only the purest of pure wolves can't feel the effects of the cavern. The Alphess of Adroushan knew all too well the effects in which the cavern can have on a wolf. She experienced it herself and saw many of her pack mates fall into its depths. Being in the cavern is like no other place you can experience, once you been there generally you never want to return if you do get out. Adrasteia managed to get out, but barely, only goes there now if they are on the verge of needing more crystals. Yt is definitely not an easy mission.
Adrasteia could remember being there with her healer, Zoana, who seemed pure as can be. As she was collecting the crystals, voices that started off as nothing more than an inaudible whisper that slowly grew. At first, she had thought it was Zoana, but it hadn't been. The voice would talk to her almost as though it could pick out her deepest desires and dreams, "I know you want to be the best alpha there is. I know you want to get rid of your fear. I know you want to kill the one who destroyed your family." But no matter what it said about her desires it always finished with, "take one more, we will help you." She knew it wouldn't help at all. The voice constantly in her head, it was soothing, calm and gentle. it sometimes would sing to her, it felt like it was putting her to sleep, and she wanted nothing more to curl up and sleep. Deep down she knew it didn't feel right, in the end, she was right. Zoana wasn't so lucky, she curled up on the ground asleep, but it wasn't long before she got up with her eyes still closed and moved to a cluster of crystals. it looked like she was sleepwalking. Wrapping herself around the crystal, Adrasteia knew she was absorbing more power. She tried to stop her but she simply said in a straight tone, "I want to, I want the power." Then she opened her eyes... they weren't the same dark brown. Not they seem to glow the same as the crystals, a blue. She then snarled at Adrasteia and attacked, saying she was taking her crystals. Adrasteia had killed her to protect herself and barely got out of the cavern alive. To this day, she fears the cavern as most rational wolves would. It isn't a place to be messed with.
So basically with the whole overdosage. The wolves become so tired, they sleep, and since the voice has been repeating their desire over and over, when they sleep they think about that. They then go to the crystals to get the power it offered to get their desires and dreams. So they absorb more than what they need and when they wake up, they aren't themselves. they become crazed over power and claim anybody and anyone is stealing their crystals. They then continue to overdose and some can die eventually from some much overdosage.
