HORNS LIKE A DEVIL
pointed at me
NOWHERE TO RUN
from the fire she breathes
Large paws moved over the ground at a slow pace through the crisp afternoon air. Tongue flicked out her mouth to go over her nose as she followed the direction of what a lone elder wolf had told her. Said that their was a natural spring nearby that was a good place to relax from injuries and worries. Somehow, she found it hard to believe, for her she could neither be too relaxed nor on edge. Leaves were still falling from trees, preparing themselves for the long winter ahead. A breeze swept by causing her fur to sway in different directions and she paused briefly to shake her body.
She lifted her head up as the ground got rockier and the trees more or less sparser. She was close she figured. With a bit more pep in her step she carried on and eventually found the spring. She did have to admit, it was warmer here. She moved to a pool looking into its depths and it looked like she hadn't slept in days. Truth be told, she really hadn't. She was far from home and was on her own when it came to hunting.
Taking a paw she poked the water before slowly stepping in and she couldn't hold back the deep sigh of relief that left her being. Okay, so maybe the older wolf was right. Taking a moment she let the water soak through her fur before shaking some water from her head as she climbed to a ledge that was just beneath the water and she shook her body, water spraying everywhere. When she looked back into the water at her reflection again, she noticed she may had lost a bit of way. She was already small for her size, and now being on her own faltered her weight. That wouldn't do, not at this time of year. Her eyes closed as she laid down on the edge and released another sigh. Well, she'd worry about that when she left this place.
