Three things. There were three main things that brought Appari to this so called Fairy Ring instead of being in Adamo like he technically was supposed to be. And those three main things were rumors, word of mouth, and the blood red moon. Rumors were simply things of fiction – things that the mind concocted while idle with nothing better to do. Word of mouth – it something slightly stronger than rumors, though still possible to refute. And finally the moon brought the male wolf here. He had seen it night after night growing steadily redder in coloration and wondered why. And a red eyed, red skinned wolf would almost know better about the abnormality of red things than any other. So, after venturing to the Florescent Falls, Appari made a quick detour to the ring, and he would circle back home when finished here. Another hour or so more would not do harm he guessed. Peace seemed to be the predominant feeling presiding over most places he had been thus far. The Adamo Alpha felt at ease with one more stop, and then his curiosity would be abated for a while. He would not need to travel anywhere else unless something truly required his attention.
Now the rumors and words about this place were quite interesting indeed. From what Appari had heard recently, loved ones and close friends could momentarily break the boundary of death to visit with the living. How this was possible was beyond normal comprehension of course. But the red moon had not appeared for no real reason. It could simply be because it was autumn, and the season had an effect on the moon. He was in a new territory, and that could change the outward appearance of things. That was the most logical answer to this phenomenon. But the pallid white male had a strong gut feeling it was something much more than that, and he was going to see for himself what was going on. Appari walked into the open clearing of the ring, with his ears folded back on his head. His posture was somewhat defensive, slightly lower to the ground than normal, and his steps were very precise. One by one he placed his paws, advancing closer and closer. Going someplace that he did not quite understand meant taking extra precautions if he wanted to live. And he most certainly did want to live.
When he got to the middle of the ring, the albino male temporarily heard ringing in his ears. It only lasted temporarily, but certainly was present. Appari stopped in his tracks, looking up at the sky to the moon. His eyes were the very same color that he was seeing. His crimson red eyes reflected back to him in every pool of water, and were absolutely undeniable. Was this what others saw when they looked at him? Was he something to be wary or afraid of? The moon was far, far away, yet it caused this much suspicion, but was he immune to that? It was then that the male really realized why he had to prove himself to some wolves when he was younger. He realized why he had to show them he was a good wolf and not some bad omen to be disposed of. No, they were wrong. His red eyes and the red moon were unique things. He and other wolves in his lineage were special wolves to be desired. Just having red eyes and being slightly different was nothing to be ashamed of. He was a kind hearted wolf, one that wanted nothing but the best for others. That was why he was proud to have become the leader of Adamo like he did. He could make a difference in the lives of those around him without restraint. If he had been in another position, he might have been limited by others. Appari stood to his full height, and no longer crept along with regret. He was still skeptical about what this place had to bring to the table, but for a different reason than before. The question of why the moon was red made him curious; it was no longer whether he was good enough or not. He already determined that he was.
Too bad that Appari did not have knowledge or aptitude for writing letters, emails, or texts like humans did. Shoot, those types of things did not even exist in the wolf world he lived in. But if they did, he could just write or type something up, and send it to his family to make sure they were okay. But he only had what was and what could possibly be to rely on for the time being. In the past, what that meant was that his family was safe from harm, sickness, and all were still living. His parents, Lynx, and Ari all were thriving in his homeland with plenty to eat, a fortified shelter to sleep in, and pack members to socialize with. What could possibly be in the future was that they were in the same position at that very moment, and he had nothing to worry about. There was also the alternative though, and something could have gone awry while he was away. Unfortunately, things like that happened sometimes, and paradise does not always last forever. Sometimes it dwindles down until the real reality rears its ugly head. Then those once living in paradise have to adjust and change. Appari had to hope for the best though, for that hope gave him comfort, and also the confidence that his decision to leave was the right one. He honestly did not want anyone close to him to show up there, for that meant they had passed away. Appari wanted to see his relatives and friends making memories and living. Muerte – death – was not something to play around with, even if it meant connecting with someone close to his heart. And death was the one thing that Appari truly feared.
